Eye Color Quad is a decent group of shadows, though certainly not the best available. Each of the quads available includes a matte, satin, shimmer, and sparkle shade. That's either a plus or a minus depending on what you think of the colors and how much shine you may or may not want from each.

These shadows do look beautiful, and for the most part are smooth enough that they apply well without any excess shadow falling onto cheeks. The tricky part is the sparkle shade that's included in each compact - they're gorgeous once applied, but you really have to work to get it on without making a mess or having it go where you don't want it. The makeup artist we spoke with recommended not using a brush at all (as it tends to flake with this technique), but instead patting it on gently with a fingertip. This technique works well, but requires a bit more time than if you could just swipe it on with a brush.

These shadows' color impact is good, and they wear very well with only minimal fading throughout the day. There are some beautiful combinations, which can work for a subtle daytime look or for a more dramatic nighttime look. Most of the quads have colors that are well-coordinated, although the all-blue Cobalt Rush, all-purple Crushed Amethyst, and pink and amber Burnished Amber quads are ones to watch out for. Golden Mink, Cocoa Mirage, and Silvered Topaz, however, are gorgeous!

Overall, these are good quads, but they're absolutely not the best you can buy - especially considering the price! If you're in the market for designer powder eyeshadow sets, Dior's eyeshadows still reign supreme.

  • Most of the shadow finishes are smooth enough that they apply easily.
  • Good color quality means you don't need to use a lot of shadow.
  • Shadows wear well with minimal fading.
  • Some truly beautiful color combinations.
  • Sparkle shade included in each quad is tricky to apply with a brush due to excessive flaking.
  • Pricey, given there are better quads available for less.

Tom Ford eyeshadow quad features four complementary shades that give you a range of looks from bold to smoky, or sexy to subtle. Each features four different finishes too, from a sheer sparkle to a satin to a shimmer to a matte so you can wear each alone or mix and match for an unforgettable look.
Brand Overview

Tom Ford is one of the world's hottest fashion designers. Coming to prominence in the mid-1990s, he became Creative Director at Gucci's fashion house, creating his own designer line in 2006 and five years later, followed in the footsteps of other high-fashion houses by launching a line of color cosmetics.

Housed in sleek black packaging with "Tom Ford" stamped in prominent gold-embossed lettering, the makeup certainly looks luxurious, and the pricing is definitely in the haute couture range. There are some great performers among Ford's small but well-edited makeup line, and we’re happy to say most of the products have minimal or no fragrance. There are a few exceptions which are noted in our individual reviews.
