Given the pharmaceutical history behind the Topix Replenix brand, we weren't too surprised to see them offer a more medically -oriented skin-care product like this. This is indeed a true ointment and it is really thick! It is meant for use on very dry skin and, especially, for wound care.

The formula contains mostly petrolatum (also known as Vaseline), which is regulated as an over-the-counter drug in the United States due to its skin-protectant nature. But, unlike protecting skin with plain Vaseline, this fragrance-free ointment also contains a broad array of other emollients and skin-healing ingredients, including ceramides, phospholipids, and peptides. All of these make this a formidable product when the need arises, and helping to heal wounds is absolutely something this product does quite well.

Beyond wound-healing, this specialty skin-care product is also suitable for extremely dry skin. Products like this can be used on a regular basis for those with uncomfortably dry skin at night/ For wound healing, it should be applied on an as-needed basis, but first and foremost, follow your physician's instructions if using this product to care for a wound or post-procedure skin .

Note: Because this product is regulated in the United States as an over-the-counter drug, its inactive ingredients are listed in alphabetical order rather than in descending order of content. Although this is allowable, we have more respect for companies that choose instead to list their non-active sunscreen ingredients in descending order of concentration, so you know more about what you are putting on your face, just like with any other skin-care or makeup product.

  • Fragrance-free.
  • Loaded with skin-healing and soothing ingredients.
  • Works to keep skin protected as it helps restore its damaged barrier.
  • None, unless you were expecting a super-light texture, which this ointment doesn't have.
