UltiMATTE Perfection SPF 50 Plus is a fragrance-free daytime moisturizer with sunscreen that's a great option for normal to oily or combination skin (including breakout-prone skin). There's a lot to love, including broad-spectrum mineral-based UV protection.
But, before we go much further, we have to report that the "all day oil control" claim simply doesn't happen. The matte finish this leaves allowed oil to shine through within an hour of applying—even when used alone. Still, if you're not looking for the ultimate matte finish, you might find this to be among the best SPF products ever to grace your face!
Packaged in an opaque squeeze tube, Replenix's UltiMATTE Perfection SPF 50 has an initially creamy texture that morphs into a feather-light, silky feel when blended over skin, and this blends readily—no need to spend extra time rubbing (and rubbing) to ensure even coverage. This is a daytime SPF you'll look forward to using!
The lightweight finish looks powdery matte, but feels hydrating. The hydrating ingredients are what keep this matte-at-first daytime moisturizer from controlling excess oil for hours as claimed. On the upside, these hydrating ingredients keep the high amount of zinc oxide from making skin feel too dry and tight.
UltiMATTE Perfection SPF 50 Plus is loaded with antioxidants like vitamin C and green tea, both of which have a good amount of research on their ability to protect skin from environmental damage. Ceramides and skin-conditioning silicones are there, too; in fact, this product's mix of silicones and its finish on skin allow it to function as a primer of sorts.
Finally—the tint. We're pleased to report that it's neutral.
More good news: The tint's color doesn't look ashen and doesn't make lighter skin tones look like they applied the wrong shade of makeup. Granted, this is a skincare product, not makeup, but it's refreshing to see a tint that can work for so many skin tones and can even look great worn alone (it provides sheer coverage).
Finding a lightweight, silky yet hydrating fragrance-free daytime moisturizer with sunscreen that works well for oily, sensitive skin can be a challenge, but UltiMATTE Perfection SPF 50 Plus may finally end your search! Although its claim of all-day oil control doesn't happen, it has what it takes to feel comfortable on oily skin (even if prone to breakouts), while providing gentle, mineral-based broad-spectrum sun protection and antioxidants.
Because this product is regulated in the United States as an over-the-counter drug, its inactive ingredients are listed in alphabetical order rather than in descending order of content. Although this may be the standard, we prefer companies to list their inactive ingredients in descending order of concentration, so you know more about what (and how much) you are putting on your face, just like with any other skincare or makeup product.

Strengths: Most of the products are fragrance-free; packaging keeps light- and air-sensitive ingredients stable during use; several good products with retinol in varying strengths; good moisturizers and cleansers; very good body lotions.
Weaknesses: Expensive; the physician allure may seem enticing, but these products do not require a doctor’s visit or medical supervision; no AHA or BHA exfoliants; no viable skin-lightening options; fragrant toners.
