We'll admit: we're stumped as to why NYX calls this "Extra Creamy Round Lipstick" (the shape of the lipstick itself is the standard angled appearance you find with most lipsticks, so we're not sure where "Round" part comes in) and it isn't exactly extra creamy. But odd name aside, this is a great cream lipstick, and a great deal, too!

This lipstick glides across lips with ease. The color quality is rich, and you don't need to put a lot on to get good, opaque coverage. It's lightweight and feels comfortable the whole time you're wearing it, and has surprisingly good staying power for a cream lipstick. We found it lasts about five hours, depending on whether you eat something.

This lipstick comes in a huge range of colors, with options for just about everyone. At this price, you'll likely want to buy more than one!

  • Creamy formula glides on with ease.
  • Rich color quality.
  • Feels lightweight and comfortable.
  • Good staying power for a cream lipstick.
  • Contains limonene and fragrance, though in a low enough concentration where it won't be issue to most (but those with sensitive skin, take note!)

Brand Overview

Smashbox At-A-Glance

This small Los Angeles–based makeup line was founded in 1999 by a woman named Toni Ko. The company's Web site is vague about Ko's background, merely stating that she developed an interest in cosmetics as a teenager and wanted to create her own line of cosmetics. Ko's goal was to produce high-quality products at affordable prices, and that's the draw of NYX (pronounced "nicks") Cosmetics. We are pleased to report that, for the most part, Ko succeeded in her childhood dream.

It is important to note that this line offers a full selection of makeup products, from foundations to lip gloss. However, the only place to access everything NYX Cosmetics has to offer is their Web site. The Ulta chain is the largest distributor of NYX Cosmetics products in the United States, and the line can also be found at Target and Nordstrom Rack, but they carry a smaller selection of NYX products. The good news is that most of the few NYX products Ulta stocks are impressive, especially the powder eyeshadows, which compete evenly with eyeshadows that cost a lot more.

NYX Cosmetics website is www.nyxcosmetics.com.
