Among Fenty Beauty's most-hyped products is Kilowatt Freestyle Highlighter. And guess what? It lives up to the fanfare!

This fragrance-free powder highlighter comes in both duo and solo shades, and is packaged in a pearlescent, white, hexagonal compact that matches the rest of the brand's packaging.

The texture of these highlighters is remarkably smooth, almost to the point of being creamy, meaning that there isn't a lot of powder kicked up when you pick it up on your brush.

This is easy to apply and blend, and wears remarkably well throughout the day, no signs of fading. The duos feature one shade that imparts a subtle, luminous glow (and doubles well as a blush if you don't mind shiny cheeks) and a complementary shade that delivers a much shinier "highlighter" look.

The solo compacts fall into this latter category, particularly the much-talked-about "Trophy Wife" shade, a bold gold that also contains micro glitter. Despite the glitter, there's minimal fallout, making it a worry-free highlighting option for a fun night out (it also doubles well as an eyeshadow).

Pros:
  • Creamy-smooth texture is easy to apply.
  • Wears well without fading.
  • Duos feature subtle glow shade and shinier highlight.
  • Glitter shades have minimal fallout.
  • Fragrance free.
Cons:
  • None.

Brand Overview

Pop mogul Rihanna’s made her mark in the worlds of music, movies, and fashion, and now she expands her empire to include makeup with Fenty Beauty, under the umbrella of parent brand Kendo. Taken from the last name she doesn’t use on stage, Fenty Beauty’s philosophy is “Beauty for All,” with an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity in its products. Among its most heralded offerings is its foundation, which comes in 40 shades with undertones appropriate for very fair to very deep skin tones, and its highlighters, which include a blindingly bright 24-karat gold shade.

Beyond all the press though, does Fenty Beauty deliver? For the most part, the answer is yes, and both the foundation and the highlighters are solid products worthy of their build-up, along with a nearly-universal lip gloss that works for a wide range of people. Most products are fragrance free or contain minimal fragrance, and come in thoughtful packaging that’s convenient and, in some cases, modular (some complementary products are magnetized so that they’re easy to keep together as a set).

If you’ve been interested in seeing whether all the hype is worth it, we say that by and large it is. For more information on Fenty Beauty, visit https://www.fentybeauty.com/.
