Lauder's Nutritious Radiant Vitality Essence Oil is a concentrated, triglyceride-based oil-like fluid that can be a very good moisturizer for normal to dry skin. It contains a good mix of natural and synthetic ingredients, including some notable plant-based antioxidants and fatty acids to help repair and replenish dry skin or a compromised skin barrier. Although not a perfect, all-around moisturizer, Lauder isn't positioning it as such. Instead, this is meant as a booster to be used when needed or with your current moisturizer when you need a little something extra.

The dropper-tip and slim bottle packaging reinforces the concentrated nature of this formula, and the small orifice means minimal exposure to ingredient-degrading light and air. This does contain a small amount of fragrance so isn't a slam-dunk for extra-sensitive skin, but is otherwise recommended if its purpose suits your skin's needs.

  • Replenishes and helps repair dry skin.
  • Fluid, oil-like texture is concentrated, so a little goes a long way.
  • Contains some very good plant-based antioxidants and fatty acids.
  • Packaged so the light- and air-sensitive ingredients get minimal exposure to light and air.
  • Contains fragrance, which isn't the best for skin.

Estee Lauder At-A-Glance

The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.

The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.

When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
