Estee Lauder makes bold claims for its Advanced Time Zone line, saying the products will make you look younger in just five days. The truth is that most moisturizers will make your skin look better, simply because applying moisturizer to the skin makes it look smoother and more "plump" (at least a little) in less than five days.
That said, this creamy moisturizer for normal to combination skin provides sufficient broad-spectrum sun protection—and sun protection is the number one way to prevent and combat the signs of aging! This formula also includes a good mix of emollient ingredients and antioxidants, which is characteristic of most Lauder moisturizers.
However, and this is the key reason why you shouldn't spend money on this product, the jar packaging undermines the effectiveness of the antioxidants. Being housed in a jar means those exciting, air-sensitive ingredients won't remain potent for long after opening. See More Info for why products like this should not be packaged in a jar.
Lauder also included a potentially irritating amount of rosemary and tangerine extracts, and irritation isn't what you want for your skin, especially skin on the face.
There's also the issue of this product's price. For sun protection to be truly effective, an SPF-rated product must be applied liberally, and at a price like this, you may be less likely to slather it on. We say: Pass this one up and instead try one of the better options on our list of Best Moisturizers With Sunscreen. In fact, new research indicates that SPF 15 is no longer enough, and revised medical recommendations are stating that SPF 20 to 25 is the least you should be applying daily!
The fact that it's packaged in a jar means the beneficial ingredients won't remain stable once it is opened. All plant extracts, vitamins, antioxidants, and other state-of-the-art ingredients break down in the presence of air, so once a jar is opened and lets the air in these important ingredients begin to deteriorate. Jars also are unsanitary because you're dipping your fingers into them with each use, adding bacteria which further deteriorate the beneficial ingredients (Sources: Free Radical Biology and Medicine, September 2007, pages 818–829; Ageing Research Reviews, December 2007, pages 271–288; Dermatologic Therapy, September-October 2007, pages 314–321; International Journal of Pharmaceutics, June 12, 2005, pages 197–203; Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, January 2002, pages 1–32; International Society for Horticultural Science, www.actahort.org/members/showpdf?booknrarnr=778_5; Beautypackaging.com, and www.beautypackaging.com/articles/2007/03/airless-packaging.php).

Estee Lauder At-A-Glance
The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.
The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.
When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
