If metallic eyeliner is your thing, ColourPop's Gel Crème Liner – Metallic won't disappoint! This narrow point, twist-up eyeliner pencil comes in an array of precious metal tones, and applies richly and smoothly in one easy swipe. Better yet, the fragrance-free formula sets to a longwearing finish, and because Gel Crème Liner – Metallic is so inexpensive, you can pick multiple shades without breaking the bank.

We also appreciated this eyeliner's ample blending time, as this made it easy to fix mistakes. Once fully set (about a minute in), this liner is locked in for the long haul (8+ hours of solid wear; no flaking). Impressive, especially at this price!

Shade-wise, you can expect a rich, metallic, gleaming finish, in silver, gold, copper and bronze tones. We were particularly fond of the silver-toned "Kicker" shade for a wintery, "ice queen" look and when we applied it along the lower waterline, we were amazed by how gently the creamy-gel texture went on and stayed put.

Interestingly, when we reviewed the matte version of this eyeliner, we had to lower the rating due to multiple instances of the tip breaking off during our testing process. While the metallic version didn't seem to have that problem (not once did the tip break, perhaps due to less pressure needed to apply them), we'd still recommend heeding ColourPop's disclaimer that warns, "do not over advance your liner to prevent breakage."

In the end, we are pleased to report ColourPop's Gel Crème Liner – Metallic surpassed our expectations in many ways, including its durability and ease of use. If you're looking for a statement eyeliner that also shimmers and shines, we think you'll be happy with it, too!

  • Sets to a stay-put finish that holds up for 8+ hours.
  • Wears well even when applied along the waterline.
  • Goes on smooth; doesn't tug at skin.
  • Metallic finish does not flake.
  • Budget-friendly price!
  • Small range of shades may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Creamy application makes blending super easy, and the formula dries down for long-lasting wear! Because the liner is so creamy, do not over advance your liner to prevent breakage. For blending and smoky looks, use a pencil brush. Smooth glide for easy and comfortable waterline application.

Brand Overview

If you haven’t heard of the makeup brand ColourPop yet, chances are you will soon. A favorite of beauty bloggers and fashion columnists, this Los Angeles-based makeup company has made a splash thanks to its seemingly endless offering of color products, bargain prices, and savvy use of social media. The brand certainly captured our attention, and we were glad it did!

ColourPop’s sticking point is that the brand is something of an enigma in this age of instant information; very little is known about its owners and origins, save that its parent company is a brand called Seed Beauty. We also know that all aspects of its production are centered in the Los Angeles area (which is why the brand claims its turnaround in creating new products can be as short as a month).

At the time of this writing, ColourPop’s focus is strictly on makeup, particularly eye, lip, and cheek-area products (there are no complexion products yet, like foundation). ColourPop’s chief claim to fame, according to its website, is that it offers “luxury formulas at prices that won’t break the bank.” For the most part that description is, pardon the pun, right on the money!

The brand’s signature products are their Super Shock Shadows, which feature a bouncy cream/powder texture, and as a whole perform brilliantly with an impressive color payoff, great wear, and a price that’s right around $5 each. ColourPop also does well with its Super Shock Cheek blushes and highlighters, which have the same distinctive texture as the shadows.

Despite our obvious enthusiasm, not to say every product from ColourPop is top-tier. While most of its lip products are good, there are a few that didn’t apply evenly and had haphazard performance. Overall though, this is a line that has quite a bit to offer, and with the biggest ticket item costing only $8, most can afford to try a few different options to see what they like best—and you’re highly likely to find some bona-fide beauty bargains that outperform much more expensive makeup.

For more information, visit Colourpop.com or tweet them @colourpopco.

Note: The company does not provide a phone number on their website, but they do provide an email address and promise to reply to messages within 2 business days.
