CeraVe 's Eye Repair Cream is the brand's first foray into the eye-area treatment market—and it's an impressive debut! This is an excellent fragrance-free moisturizer for the eye area (or anywhere on the face). CeraVe's Eye Repair Cream easily rivals many high-end targeted eye treatments with its mix of ingredients such as niacinamide, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and multiple skin-repairing ingredients—an array that helps skin look and act healthier as well as minimizing signs of aging.
In terms of moisture, the Eye Repair Cream has a thick-lotion consistency, which is standard for eye creams, and most will find it sufficiently emollient for the eye area without being "greasy". Bonus: Unlike many eye creams from other brands, CeraVe packaged this in a squeeze tube to protect the light and air-sensitive ingredients.
However, we should note that despite the fact that products like this are marketed specifically for the eye area, a well-formulated facial serum or moisturizer would share the same types of anti-aging benefits for skin—i.e. cell communicating, skin-reparative and antioxidant ingredients. Before you invest is a separate eye-area treatment, try your facial serum or moisturizer around your eye area—you may find it's a perfect solution. However, some just want a separate product for their eye area (and if that's you), then Eye Repair Cream is certainly a good option to consider. See More Info for additional details on why you may not need a separate eye cream.
Bottom line: Eye Repair Cream is a well-priced (and wonderfully formulated) nighttime moisturizer for the eye and face area. Like most eye creams on the market, it lacks sunscreen ingredients, so if worn during the day, layering this under a broad-spectrum sunscreen is imperative in helping protect your eye area. We found that it wore well under sunscreen and as a base for concealers and undereye correctors.
Why You May Not Need an Eye Cream: There is much you can do to improve signs of aging around your eyes, but this doesn’t have to include using an eye-area product. Any product loaded with antioxidants, emollients, skin-repairing and anti-inflammatory ingredients will work wonders when used around the eye area. Those ingredients don't have to come from a product labeled as an eye cream or gel or serum or balm—they can come from any well-formulated moisturizer or serum.
Most eye-area products aren't necessary because so many are poorly formulated, contain nothing special for the eye area, or come in packaging that won't keep key ingredients stable. Just because the product is labeled as a special eye-area treatment doesn't mean it's good for the eye area or any part of the face; in fact, many can actually make matters worse.
You would be shocked how many eye-area products lack even the most basic ingredients to help skin. For example, most eye-area products don't contain sunscreen. During the day, that is a serious problem if you aren’t wearing it under a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30+ as it leaves the skin around your eyes vulnerable to sun damage—and that absolutely will make dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles worse. Of course, for nighttime use, eye-area products without sun protection are just fine.
Whatever product you put around your eye area, regardless of what it is labeled, must be well formulated and appropriate for the skin type you have around your eyes. You may prefer using a specially labelled eye cream, but you may also do just as well applying your regular facial moisturizer and/or serum around your eyes.
Developed with dermatologists, it's designed not only to visibly reduce dark circles and puffiness, but also to help repair and restore the delciate skin barrier around your eyes-leaving you with brighter, smoother, healthier looking eyes. Non-greasy and fast absorbing formula.

This expanding collection of skincare products keeps things gentle and effective with fragrance-free formulas, many of which are more state-of-the-art than any other product in its price range or pricier versions at the drugstore. In short, this line is a real find!
CeraVe uses a delivery system the company refers to as Multivesicular Emulsion Technology, which releases key ingredients such as ceramides and hyaluronic acid over a period of several hours. Although this technology is undoubtedly helpful, such time-delayed delivery systems aren't unique to CeraVe, and the fact remains that most of the ingredients they use are very helpful on their own, no matter what delivery system you use.
The important point is that ongoing, consistent use of this kind of moisturizer designed to repair the skin's barrier function will result in smoother, softer, healthier skin.
It is for these reasons that most CeraVe products are definitely worth considering, especially at this price. You'll find a options for moisturizing, cleansing, broad spectrum sun protection, and baby care.
