Brand Overview

This silicone-rich serum dispenses thick but is easy to smooth over skin. Owing to the amount of silicones it contains, skin is left feeling velvety-smooth with a soft sheen. The sheen comes from the plant oils this contains, which add a moisturizing boost pure silicone alone doesn't deliver (though silicones are brilliant at preventing moisture loss and protecting skin's barrier). This also contains some very good antioxidants which work to fight multiple signs of aging.

Did we mention this serum is fragrance-free? It is, and as such it's great for sensitive skin. Overall, though, Vanish is best for normal to dry skin, and is also suitable for those with dry skin prone to breakouts. It is likely too moisturizing for those who are combination to oily, (whether or not you are also prone to breakouts).

The mix of silicones and polymers this contains are what allow Vanish to have a "blurring" effect on uneven skin texture and large pores. The effect is temporary and strictly cosmetic, but it looks good as long as you wear this (though applying a silicone-heavy foundation on top of this can be tricky, so look for those that have a light, thin texture and water-based formula).

On balance, this is a job well done and the price isn't too out of line for what this can deliver.

Pros:
  • Fragrance-free formula suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Very silky texture leaves skin velvety-smooth.
  • Contains a good mix of anti-aging ingredients (mostly antioxidants).
  • Leaves an attractive sheen on skin plus a super-smooth finish that blurs surface imperfections.
Cons:
  • No cell-communicating ingredients.
