Brand Overview

This body lotion previously earned highest marks from us, but unfortunately it was reformulated for the worse. With an updated name and new formula, Ultimate Restoring Lotion, Green Tea & Vitamin C now contains irritating fragrance and citrus extracts.

That's a bummer considering the formula otherwise had a lot to offer in terms of excellent moisturizing ingredients, antioxidants and ceramides. Of particular note, the high amount of urea (likely around 10%) offers exceptional moisture-binding properties and can have a skin-smoothing exfoliating effect too due to urea being able to break down the protein structure of dead skin cells and encourage normal shedding. In that sense, this body lotion would have a boon for those with dry, flaky skin.

As is, however, you're better off using an exfoliating lotion with all the hydration and no irritants.

Pros:
  • Contains beneficial moisturizing ingredients, antioxidants and ceramides.
  • Smooths dry, flaky skin thanks the high concentration of urea.
Cons:
  • Contains potentially irritating fragrance and citrus extracts.
Jar Packaging: No

Gold Bond At-A-Glance

Gold Bond is a staple at drugstores due to their small selection of body lotions, anti-itch products, and various foot-care products. Though there are a number of Gold Bond products containing the potent irritant menthol (particularly its foot care and "medicated" products), in recent years Gold Bond has taken great strides and now offers some impressive moisturizers that are fairly priced, too.
