Brand Overview

This fragrance-free moisturizer is absolutely a good choice for eczema-affected skin, which is typically also dry and sensitive. Its active ingredient colloidal oatmeal can soothe itchy, irritated skin and the formula contains a mix of tried-and-true emollients and repairing ingredients, though a greater range of the latter would've propelled this body moisturizer to our top rating.

Although not exactly the "ultimate" for eczema skin seeking relief, this cream is an inexpensive option especially when paired with topical prescription medications designed to reduce and control symptoms of eczema.

Ginger root extract is one of the ingredients in this product and although it can have anti-inflammatory activity, some constituents of ginger root may also be irritating, especially for those whose skin barrier is compromised due to the incessant itching that often accompanies eczema (Source: www.naturaldatabase.com). The amount of ginger root is likely too low to be cause for concern (and the formula contains some very good anti-irritants), but we wanted to mention it as a precaution.

Pros:
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Inexpensive for an impressive formula.
  • Contains some good barrier repair and skin-healing ingredients.
  • The active ingredient (colloidal oatmeal) can reduce eczema-related itching.
Cons:
  • The ginger root extract poses a slight risk of irritation.

Gold Bond At-A-Glance

Gold Bond is a staple at drugstores due to their small selection of body lotions, anti-itch products, and various foot-care products. Though there are a number of Gold Bond products containing the potent irritant menthol (particularly its foot care and "medicated" products), in recent years Gold Bond has taken great strides and now offers some impressive moisturizers that are fairly priced, too.
