Anastasia's Stick Foundation is a tricky product to work with. We can see why it's marketed to people with oily skin instead of dry skin (the matte finish emphasizes any degree of flakiness or rough texture). The problem is that even on oily skin the stiff, cream-to-powder texture has issues, leaving this foundation as one with limited appeal.
When applied on clean skin the Stick Foundation drags and pulls so much so that blending becomes a chore and you wonder if you'll ever get it on evenly or what effect all that extra stretching is going to have on your skin. (Eek—sagging skin!)
The only time we didn't experience the dragging issue was when we applied it midday as a touchup on skin that had already accumulated excess oil or if we prepped skin with a facial oil (which is counterproductive for someone with oily skin as it only makes skin look oilier faster during the day!).
The buildable, medium-to-full coverage works well to conceal imperfections, but full-face application takes a lot of work. Right away, we noticed that texture had to be pressed into skin (we used a combination of our fingertips and a makeup sponge)—otherwise, the foundation noticeably sits on top of skin, emphasizing the appearance of large pores.
The brand describes the finish as "natural matte", but natural isn't the right word for it. This cream-to-powder texture can look a bit powdery/cakey (especially a few hours into wear), and has the propensity to congregate in fine lines and wrinkles. You definitely won't fool anyone into thinking that you're not wearing makeup.
In the end, the results just aren't worth the extra effort with Stick Foundation. Using a formula that works with your skin type from the get-go is a far better choice! See our Best Foundations Without Sunscreen and With Sunscreen for our top-rated picks for oily skin.

Anastasia Beverly Hills At-a-Glance
The Anastasia Beverly Hills product line was developed by "definitive eyebrow expert" Anastasia Soare, a woman who owns a chic Beverly Hills salon and has styled and shaped the brows of a number of celebrities. Though her namesake product line features lip, cheek, and complexion products, what sets the brand apart is the wide selection of brow-grooming products and their impressive shade range for natural-looking brows. Many of the products cater to those who are new to brow shaping (including a brow stencil set), and, depending on your local department store, you may even be able to schedule an appointment with an Anastasia brow specialist who can show you the way, following the company founder's famous Golden Ratio.
