Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup SPF 15
This loose-powder foundation goes on sheer so it looks natural, but it has enough coverage to even out your skin tone without looking chalky. The finely milled texture is super fluffy and light; as a result, it can get a little messy when transferring the product from the brush to your face; but, once applied, the result is an effortlessly smooth finish, weightless feel, and broad-spectrum sun protection all rolled into one.
Keep in mind that we don’t recommend relying on any SPF-rated loose powder as your sole source of sun protection because it is unlikely that anyone, including you, will apply it liberally enough to achieve optimal sun protection (a light dusting will not protect you from the sun’s damaging rays). It is best to use an SPF 15 powder in conjunction with a moisturizer or foundation that contains UVA-protecting ingredients, which are titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, Mexoryl SX (ecamsule), Tinosorb, or avobenzone.
Note: This product was recently downgraded from 5-stars to 4-stars due to its less-than-optimal SPF rating. Although this does provide sun protection, it's less than SPF 30. The problem? Health experts and medical boards around the globe agree that SPF 30 or greater is best when it comes to providing a reliable defense against the damage the sun can do. Yes, a foundation with less than SPF 30 is acceptable if your daytime moisturizer is rated SPF 30 or greater, but we wouldn't want anyone thinking an SPF under 30 is the best for skin. See More Info below for details.
- Silky, weightless texture.
- Goes on sheer yet provides enough coverage to even out your skin tone.
- Doesn’t look chalky.
- Smooth finish.
- Provides broad-spectrum sun protection, although we don’t recommend relying on any SPF-rated loose powder as your sole source of sun protection.
- Fluffy, loose powder can be a bit messy during application.
- No good shades for dark skin tones.
- Pricey for what you get (this is easily replaced by far less expensive versions).
- SPF 15 is below worldwide standards for optimum sun protection.
Sunscreens Rated Lower than an SPF 30: An extensive body of research and a growing number of medical organizations around the world have determined that a sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater is mandatory to ensure adequate sun protection.
Although a sunscreen rated lower than 30 will provide protection at the SPF number on the label and may claim broad-spectrum protection, we always point out when it does not have a rating of SPF 30 or greater because that's so important for the health and appearance of your skin.

Bobbi Brown At-A-Glance
Strengths: A good cleanser and eye makeup removers; some impressive foundations, with options for all skin types and preferences; very good blushes and eyeshadows (powder and cream); several top-notch mascaras; mostly excellent brushes.
Weaknesses: Multiple moisturizers in jar packaging, otherwise great products hindered with irritating fragrant oils or fragrance components.
It all began with lipsticks. In 1991, New York based makeup artist Bobbi Brown debuted a collection of ten lipsticks at Bergdorf Goodman, expecting to sell about one hundred units in a month. She sold more than that the first day. From there, it's been mostly success after success, as Brown launched her classic foundation stick, wrote her first book, Bobbi Brown Beauty The Ultimate Beauty Resource, and enjoyed continued attention as an in-demand makeup artist and beauty educator.
Today, Bobbi Brown's makeup that continues to excel with superior foundations, true matte blushes and eyeshadows, and with all of the other basics that are essential to anyones makeup wardrobe. It isn't the least bit surprising that this makeup collection continues to do so well, because for many it's one-stop shopping that combines classic makeup application techniques with enough fun-yet-functional products to keep customer's interest piqued season to season.
Turning to the skincare collection, there are a few excellent formulas, but unfortunately, many are packaged in a jar, which means their beneficial ingredients are rendered useless due to air exposure (and bacterial contamination from spatulas or fingers). In addition, some suffer from the inclusion of potent fragrant essential oils. Those that should be avoided are noted in their respective reviews. That aside, color is without a doubt Bobbi Brown's strong pointbut you will find a few sleeper hits among the selection of skincare products.
