Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight
Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight is a highlighter collaboration between Becca and YouTube makeup artist sensation Jaclyn Hill (known for her effervescently glowing makeup looks). One of the chief selling points of this highlighter is that it is designed for precise application around the inner corners of the eye, Cupid's bow, eyebrows, and so on—for which it excels!
Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight comes in twist-up stick form with a slender (but not too slim) rounded point. Its solid cream texture adheres easily to skin without being slippery, which is conducive to precise application. It's tricky to blend over large surface areas, but that's not really what Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight is for, so no foul there.
The color payoff and reflective shimmer is just enough to add a touch of radiance, which is spot-on with how the brand positions it. If you're looking for a real noticeable pop of color/highlight, you may be disappointed by the subtlety of Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight.
Shade-wise, the gold-toned "Champagne Pop" has the most universal appeal; "Pearl" is a luminescent white; and "Topaz" is a bronze-toned highlighter best suited for those with deep skin tones.
In the interest of your skin and eye area, we're happy to report that the formula is also fragrance free.
If you're in search of a targeted highlighter, Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight is worth checking out. Our only hesitation in recommending this product whole-heartedly is that it fades as the day goes on, but that's not a total deal breaker when you consider that touchups are a breeze if needed.
- Slim stick-cream design works well for precise highlighting.
- Adds subtle radiance to enliven skin.
- Versatile, appealing mix of shades.
- Fragrance free.
- Fades as the day wears on.
- May be too subtle for some.
Australian import Becca is a complete line of color cosmetics from makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams. As the story goes, Rebecca, like so many women, was having difficulty finding the perfect foundation. It seems her professional experience making up women of varying skin tones and preferences shared one truth: all women wanted perfect skin. This set Williams on her path to creating what would become the Becca line, a makeup collection that caters well to all skin tones.
While there are a number of excellent foundations here, what seems to have catapulted the brand onto the map is their numerous highlighter products. From liquids to powders, there are an incredible range of options in their luminizer categories, and many are superb.
Surveying the rest of this line revealed that Williams not only did her homework for foundation shades, the eyeshadows are amazingly silky, and many of their products for lips and cheeks are exemplary. Lastly, almost all of the makeup brushes from Becca are aces, and the options plentiful, especially for eye designs.
Strengths: Excellent concealers, foundations, highlighters and eyeshadows; good lip gloss; several outstanding brushes.
Weaknesses: Beats us, this is a strong collection of products.
Becca is available at Sephora, Ulta and via their Web site.
