Brand Overview

Drugstore stalwart Olay knows what it's doing when it comes to producing good serums (for the most part), and this is no exception. Thanks to its mix of solid anti-aging ingredients in packaging that ensures their effectiveness, this recently reformulated serum still earns our highest rating!

Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Regenerating Serum comes in an opaque pump-style bottle that protects its beneficial (and delicate) ingredients from light and air. The texture of this water-based formula is lightweight and non-greasy and quickly absorbs into skin, and should work for most skin types.

True to its claims, this serum can help improve the signs of aging, thanks to its mix of great ingredients. They include vitamin B3 (listed as niacinamide), which can improve skin's tone and texture, alongside skin-conditioning ingredients like panthenol and allantoin, reparative antioxidants, and even a peptide.

In fact, the only (minor) note we have to make about this formula is that it does include fragrance. It's in such a small amount that it's not likely to cause any problems (it is the very last ingredient included), but it is a consideration for those who prefer their skincare products to be completely fragrance-free.

Otherwise, this is another great entry from Olay, and at a pretty good price, too!

Olay At-A-Glance

Starting decades ago with the now-classic Oil of Olay, this brand now offers an extensive range of skin-care products sold at drugstores and mass-market stores. Today's Olay lineup for those concerned about staving off the effects of aging skin is impressive, comprising their Regenerist, Pro X, and Total Effects lines. All of these (and several other Olay products) contain the B vitamin niacinamide. As you might expect, the claims made for it are inflated, but niacinamide is a very helpful ingredient for all skin types, capable of exerting multiple benefits.

In fact, perhaps the biggest complaint about Olay is that there are a number of repetitive formulas within and between the sub-brands make this line confusing and tricky to shop! Still, there is a lot to like about this drugstore stalwart, with its main drawback being a few formulas containing fragrance or other ingredients that have the potential to cause irritation.
