Pro Filt’R Instant Retouch Primer
Rihanna's Fenty Beauty line has several hit makeup products, and Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer is one of them! True to claim and exactly what a primer should do, it smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear.
At first touch, this primer feels like a lightweight lotion, but as you blend, the formula dries down, leaving an invisible, soft matte finish ideal for normal to oil/combination skin. It's not so absorbent that skin feels dry; rather, it minimizes oily shine in a comfortable way.
Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer won't make pores totally disappear, but it lightly diffuses their appearance. Better yet, we found that it helped our foundation resist settling into fine lines and wrinkles and overall look smoother. No easy feat!
The only drawback is that this contains fragrance. It's not overpowering, and fades quickly after application, but even subtle fragrance can cause irritation, which isn't the best for any skin type—and can be more of a problem when applied near the eyes.
Last, if you're wondering about the "invisi-pink" tint, it really does look imperceptible on all skin tones.
- Creates an invisible, soft matte finish that minimizes oily shine in a comfortable way.
- Helps foundation wear longer, resist creasing, and look smoother.
- Lightly diffuses the appearance of pores.
- Contains fragrance, which isn't best for skin.
Pop mogul Rihannas made her mark in the worlds of music, movies, and fashion, and now she expands her empire to include makeup with Fenty Beauty, under the umbrella of parent brand Kendo. Taken from the last name she doesnt use on stage, Fenty Beautys philosophy is Beauty for All, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity in its products. Among its most heralded offerings is its foundation, which comes in 40 shades with undertones appropriate for very fair to very deep skin tones, and its highlighters, which include a blindingly bright 24-karat gold shade.
Beyond all the press though, does Fenty Beauty deliver? For the most part, the answer is yes, and both the foundation and the highlighters are solid products worthy of their build-up, along with a nearly-universal lip gloss that works for a wide range of people. Most products are fragrance free or contain minimal fragrance, and come in thoughtful packaging thats convenient and, in some cases, modular (some complementary products are magnetized so that theyre easy to keep together as a set).
