Powder Set is another product that AmazingCosmetics touts as "a-mazing," but it is actually a very basic finishing powder. Although Powder Set has a smooth, blendable texture and it works well to set makeup, there is absolutely nothing about it that warrants the price. Several similar products are available at the drugstore for a fraction of the price, but if you choose Powder Set, you'll find it has a drying matte finish that emphasizes, rather than hides, rough-textured skin. On the positive side, it's great for keeping excess oil in check.
Although this finishing powder is supposed to be workable for all skin colors, it isn't. The sole shade is very light and imparts just enough color to appear ashy on tan to dark skin tones.
- Smooth, blendable texture.
- Works well to set makeup, and for touch-ups.
- Minimizes excess oil.
- Not translucent as claimed; the one color doesn't work for all skin tones.
AmazingCosmetics was founded in 1999 as a small online company that sold only one producta cream concealer. Co-founders Lisa Thurman and Sue Katz believe a great concealer is the ultimate must-have for in a person's makeup routine. AmazingConcealer caught fire, becoming a makeup artist favorite, and so the foundation for a beauty brand was formed.
Since the launch of AmazingCosmetics and the success of AmazingConcealer, the line has expanded its makeup line with products for the eyes, lips, and face, including the now-popular Velvet Mineral Liquid Foundation with their "AmazingConcealer Technology." Once sold only online, AmazingCosmetics is now available in Sephora and Ulta stores across the U.S.A.
