Brand Overview

This gel claims to fade discolorations from acne, but its active ingredient (2% hydroquinone) only fades brown skin discolorations; it does not help with red marks of any kind. Brown discolorations left over from blemishes are typical for women with darker skin tones; those with lighter skin tones tend to have pink to red post-acne marks, and hydroquinone is not helpful for those discolorations. If you’re a woman with darker skin coloring and have brown discolorations from breakouts, hydroquinone-based products are certainly an option. However, this product is not an option to consider because it contains a high amount of skin-damaging alcohol. Please see More Info below for details on why alcohol is bad for skin of any color.

  • Blend of 2% hydroquinone and 3% kojic acid is capable of fading brown skin discolorations.
  • Contains a blend of AHA-like polyhydroxy acids for exfoliation.

  • Expensive.
  • High amount of alcohol puts skin at risk for dryness and irritation.

More info:

As helpful as this product’s active ingredients may be, there are plenty of products that omit the skin-damaging alcohol that’s present in this one. Irritation from alcohol impairs skin’s healing process and can hurt healthy collagen production. That means post-acne discolorations will take longer to go away, which is not what you want!
