Perfecting Skin Tint
Perfecting Skin Tint doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's marketed as an "imperceptible wash of color" that slightly evens out skin tone, and that's exactly what it does. The brand makes it clear that it won't "hide your freckles, spackle your pores, or erase any other evidence that you are, in fact, a real human being."
If you don't have near-perfect skin, the barely there coverage isn't going to be enough to hide areas of redness, brown marks, breakouts, etc. However, if you just want skin that looks a bit more polished than going barefaced, Perfecting Skin Tint provides just that.
The thin, liquid formula come comes in a plastic bottle with needle-nose tip. It couldn't be easier to blend and provides a dewy, hydrating finish. The dewiness is overkill for oily skin, but great for normal to dry skin types.
Perfecting Skin Tint comes in five flattering shades from Light to Rich, which are adaptable to most skin colors due to their sheerness.
If you just want a hint of natural-looking color, Perfecting Skin Tint certainly fits the bills. Kudos to Glossier for keeping the formula fragrance free so even those with sensitive skin can use it (and for the record, fragrance-free formulas are best for all skin types).
- Provides sheer a wash of color to enhance (but not cover) your complexion.
- Easily blendable liquid formula.
- Flattering shades for light to deep skin tones.
- Dewy finish gives skin a healthy glow.
- None, unless you're expecting more coverage (this is not a buildable formula).
Glossier is the brainchild of Emily Weiss, whose successful beauty blog IntoTheGloss.com inspired the spinoff skin care/makeup line launched in 2014. Weiss describes the concept behind Glossier as a lifestyle beauty brand with a highly edited selection of streamlined skin care and makeup products.
We consider Glossier's makeup the strong suit of the brand. Their tagline of uncomplicated makeup staples that live with you, not on you, rings true with their simple yet impressive lineup of color products. Each is intentionally designed as a low maintenance option to enhance your appearance but not overpower it, allowing your natural beauty to shine through. By and large, the makeup products perform well, and while the shade options aren't vast, we're impressed by the flattering, attractive colors they've curated.
Glossier's skin care fares a little lower on the rating scale. While the majority of formulas are decent, they tend to be lackluster in terms of a well-researched cocktail of beneficial ingredients. Not bad, but not great either. Aesthetically-speaking, the skincare products stick to their reoccurring promise of dewy, glowy looking skin.
We're happy to report the majority of Glossier's skin care and makeup products are fragrance free, which is a rarity in the cosmetics industry and better overall for the health of your skin.
To sum it up: Skin care-wise there's room for improvement, but if you like the minimalist approach and cool girl vibe, Glossier makeup delivers. We're intrigued to see what they come up with next!
