Brand Overview

This moisturizing body wash isn’t more age defying than any other from Olay. All of Olay’s body washes have astonishingly similar formulas, regardless of the name of claims. Each of them are a good option for normal to dry skin. Those with dry skin will appreciate that this particular body wash cleanses gently without making skin feel stripped. It also doesn't leave a greasy or soap-like residue on skin. It is a suitable option for acne-prone skin because the main emollient (petrolatum) does not clog pores.

You may be concerned about the cleansing agents sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) but don’t be; it does not pose a health risk to skin and between the amount and presence of emollient petrolatum it won’t leave skin feeling dry.

The tiny amount of vitamin E this body wash contains isn’t going to impart an age-defying benefit, but gentle body washes like this help preserve and protect skin’s barrier (surface) which will lead to skin that looks and feels younger. As mentioned, since all of Olay’s body washes have nearly identical formulas, all of them can make skin look and feel younger, just as any well formulated body wash can.

Olay At-A-Glance

Starting decades ago with the now-classic Oil of Olay, this brand now offers an extensive range of skin-care products sold at drugstores and mass-market stores. Today's Olay lineup for those concerned about staving off the effects of aging skin is impressive, comprising their Regenerist, Pro X, and Total Effects lines. All of these (and several other Olay products) contain the B vitamin niacinamide. As you might expect, the claims made for it are inflated, but niacinamide is a very helpful ingredient for all skin types, capable of exerting multiple benefits.

In fact, perhaps the biggest complaint about Olay is that there are a number of repetitive formulas within and between the sub-brands make this line confusing and tricky to shop! Still, there is a lot to like about this drugstore stalwart, with its main drawback being a few formulas containing fragrance or other ingredients that have the potential to cause irritation.
