Brand Overview

Stratia’s Night Shift is a great way to add a fragrance-free retinol to your routine, especially if you’ve haven’t used the ingredient before and are seeking a moderately lower, but still very effective, concentration.

Packaged in an opaque bottle with a pump dispenser that protects its beneficial ingredients from light and air, this lightweight lotion has a texture that’s suitable for all skin types. It sinks into skin quickly, leaving it feeling softer and smoother.

As advertised this contains retinol, in an amount (0.15%) that’s considered moderate. Retinol has decades of research proving its value in fighting multiple signs of aging, and even low to moderate amounts such as this can make a visible impact on skin.

The retinol is supported by antioxidant-rich squalane and marula oil, as well as skin-conditioning panthenol. There’s also soothing Centella asiatica and allantoin (soothing ingredients are always welcome in a retinol product), alongside skin-restoring ceramides and cholesterol.

It all adds up to an anti-aging product that can do what it says, plain and simple.

A final comment: although this is called “Night Shift,” you absolutely can use this product during the day, as long as you’re wearing a sunscreen rated SPF 30 or higher over it.

Wake up to the skin of your dreams. Retinol increases cell turnover and stimulates collagen product for clearer, bouncier, more youthful skin. The 0.15% retinol in Night Shift is encapsulated in a liquid sphere, which helps it reach the deepest layers of your skin. We added in powerful skin-soothers like ceramides, panthenol, and centella asiatica to keep your skin calm and happy.

With a tagline of Skincare That Works, Stratia (pronounced strah-TEE-uh in reference to the layers of the skin) is a no-frills, boutique-style take on skincare backed by scientific research. The brainchild of blogger and self-professed chemistry nerd and skincare addict Allie Reed from Los Angeles.

The line got its start in 2016 and so far is small, consisting of a handful of formulas. Overall, these formulas are effective and get it right, as they are mostly gentle, effective, and fragrance-free. We say mostly because there is one product containing a potentially-sensitizing plant oil, and another that doesnt contain the most effective form of its key ingredient thats available.

Otherwise, this has some strong offerings, and is at a mid-range price that means its good skincare thats attainable for many (though at this point, you can only buy Stratia products online).
