Brand Overview

Nanoblur is the star product from Indeed Laboratories, and we can see why, as it claims to make skin look perfect, and who doesn't want that? Although the claims made are over-the-top, from a formulary perspective, fragrance-free Nanoblur works beautifully to smooth skin texture, blur the appearance of superficial (and, to some extent, deeper) wrinkles and slightly fill in enlarged pores. The combination of silicones and skin-smoothing film-forming agents is what does the trick and leaves skin feeling powdery matte.

Nanoblur can be used by all skin types, but works best on combination to oily skin. The matte finish doesn't feel great over dry skin; however, applying moisturizer beforehand negates this concern. Those with sensitive skin may find the film-forming agents this contains are sensitizing, especially when applied around the eyes. We don't normally comment on our personal experience with skin-care products, but out of four staffers that tested Nanoblur, two had a sensitized reaction when they applied it around eye-area wrinkles and two didn't. We're not excited about those odds, but it's anecdotal experience, not solid proof that Nanoblur is going to be a problematic product for the majority who use it.

When to apply Nanoblur is something you'll need to experiment with. Indeed Laboratories concurs, as they mention on their site that there's no hard-and-fast best application method. It can work over makeup, if lightly dabbed on, and under makeup, too, though it's finish isn't compatible with some liquid foundations.

Should you try Nanoblur? If you're curious to see what it can do for your skin, why not? The price is right, and a little goes a long way. This wrinkle/pore filler (we categorize it as a specialty skin-care product) missed our top rating because the formula lacks beneficial ingredients like antioxidants, repairing substances, and/or cell-communicating ingredients. An anti-irritant or two would've also been nice, but they're absent, perhaps as a means to reduce the formulary cost and keep the retail price attractive.

Promising high performance, innovative products, Canada-based Indeed Laboratories is a small, drugstore-sold line specializing in anti-aging-themed products. Their best-known product, and not surprisingly the one we're asked about the most, is Nanoblur. This product is essentially a silicone-based wrinkle filler and pore smoother that works, though no better than many other, similar products. All of these types of products work (temporarily, of course) to improve skin texture and fill imperfections to a degree that they're slightly to moderately less noticeable. Where Nanoblur makes its mark is the price point, which many will find enticing.

This is a line that seeks to avoid fragrance, and that's always to skin's benefit, and their modern-looking packaging will help keep light- and air-sensitive ingredients (like retinol) from degrading. Though the claims of certain products don't always live up to the reality of their ingredients,  if you keep your expectations realistic and don't expect miracles, you're far more likely to come away satisfied.
