Too Faced's Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick shares many similarities with Armani's amazing Lip Maestro liquid lip color (which we rated "BEST"). While it doesn't quite match up with Lip Maestro, it still has many qualities to love (and for less money, too)!

This comes in a squeeze tube with a sponge-tipped applicator at the end that dispenses the product. Though you can use the applicator to spread this across your lips, enough product comes out that you may prefer to use a lip brush to pick it up off the sponge and then apply with the brush.

The gel-like texture is very smooth and glides on easily – and you do not need much to get a lot of color!

The color quality is very strong and stays on lips for many hours, true to its long-wearing claims. It wears down to an attractive stain once it's faded. Although the finish is truly matte, this doesn't feel drying and is lightweight, making it very comfortable to wear.

There are only two things keeping this from making our list of best products: A small amount of a chemical fragrance that fades away quickly but might be unpleasant for some, and this starts to bleed slightly after the first couple of hours it's on (this can be fixed with a good anti-feather lip liner). Otherwise, if you're in the market for a matte, long-wearing lip product that feels light, this is one to check out!

Too Faced At-A-Glance

Too Faced is the brainchild of Jerrod Blandino, who got his start in the cosmetics industry as a department store makeup artist in the '90s. According to brand lore, Blandino's clients sought him out for his lighthearted, playful approach to beauty, which led him to create his own line. Soon he teamed up with business partner Jeremy Johnson, and launched Too Faced. The brand caught on quickly, getting distribution in stores like Nordstorm and Sephora.

Too Faced's biggest hook is its emphasis on a feminine persona that seeks to make beauty seem fun. There are several food- and scent-themed palettes, and many products bear trendy or cheeky monikers. The brand offers some top-notch performers, including some great powder products and its top-selling Better Than Sex Mascara, though there are some mis-steps as well (see our individual reviews for more information).

Note: In November 2016, cosmetics giant Estee Lauder bought Too Faced for $1.45 billion. Despite the fact that Estee Lauder sells products in China, where animal testing is in some cases required by law, Too Faced's founders say they maintain their commitment to no animal testing (and there are no plans so far to sell Too Faced products in China).
