Lip Vibes Lipstick
Almay adds a viable lip color to its current offerings with Lip Vibes Lipstick, which provides luxurious performance at a bargain price.
The whole experience starts with the packaging, which features a plastic tube and a carboard sleeve that goes over top. The sleeve has a brightly decorated tropical motif, and the lipsticks have fun names like “Live Happy,” “Insta Queen,” and “Treat Yourself.”
Nice packaging is great, but the product inside is ultimately what matters, and the lipstick inside is very good. It’s creamy, glides on easily, and is super-saturated with color, meaning you’ll get full coverage from just a single swipe.
There are two available finishes: matte and cream. Two of the 24 shades available are designated as lip toppers, though they were not available for purchase at the time of our review (if you’ve tried them, let us know about your experience in the Community Reviews, please!). Each finish is non-drying, attractive (no exaggerated lip lines here) and holds up well for about four or five hours before fading to an attractive stain. There’s quite a variety of colors as well, with everything from bright corals and muted beiges to bold purples and classic reds.
More to love, there are some beneficial ingredients included here, including skin-replenishing sodium hyaluronate, antioxidant vitamins C and E, and even a peptide.
The only drawback, and it’s minor, is that this contains fragrance (listed in the ingredients as “flavor”). It isn’t very strong (you can smell it but not taste it), but fragrance isn’t the best for lips because it has the potential to cause irritation.
Otherwise, this is a lipstick with high-end performance and price that means you can get more than just one color!
- Creamy texture glides on with ease.
- Super-saturated color.
- Non-drying, attractive looking matte and cream finishes.
- Wears well before fading to an attractive stain.
- Formula includes some beneficial ingredients.
- Contains flavor (fragrance), which isn’t the best for lips.
Go and channel your current vibe! Almay Lip Vibes offers single stroke, high impact color in matte, cream, and topper finishes!
Strengths:An excellent assortment of mascaras; several exceptional foundation options to choose from; a phenomenal liquid eyeliner; a selection of good makeup removers.
Weaknesses: Some of the Intense i-color products do the exact opposite of enhancing eye color; mediocre blushes; Smart Shade products dont automatically adapt to skins color as claimed.
Long a standby for those with sensitive skin seeking hypoallergenic products (though that term is unregulated and can be applied to any product, regardless of ingredients), Almay continues to refine its comprehensive makeup line. In early 2006 the company repackaged its old favorites, and also relaunched several new makeup items. Everything now has a sleek new look and color-coded packaging. We admit, the makeover is effective, not just product-wise but visually too.
Shopping this drugstore line is now much easier because of the clearly defined product and color family groupings. Lamentably, testers and trial sizes of the makeup are still scarce regardless of where you shop. Almay has always been a reliable line for foundations, powder, and mascara. Within its current lineup you'll find that remains true. Their foundations are better than ever, and still offer full, broad-spectrum sun protection and a mostly neutral palette. We also found their concealers and mascaras have improved, as have the pencil options. When it comes to shopping for makeup staples with state-of-the-art formulas, Almay has many winners, and some innovative surprises that its competitors would be wise to learn from.
