Brand Overview

Eccentric makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury's line is centered on providing people access to old-style Hollywood glamour, and for the most part she gets it right. Legendary Lashes certainly is in the category of delivering red carpet-worthy fringe lashes.

This mascara comes in pretty standard packaging, a round tube with dense-bristled brush. Where this stands out is in the mascara formula itself. It doesn't clump, even after multiple coats, and adds lift and a great deal of volume to lashes. The result is a wide-eyed look that gives the appearance of being more awake. This also wears remarkably well throughout the day without smudging, flaking, or fading.

The one problem you should consider is the amount of fragrance this mascara contains. Tilbury chose to include the fragrance ingredient ethylene brassylate, and fragrance is an issue for skin especially if you have sensitive eyes.

There are other great mascaras to consider for far less money that are also fragrance free so check here for those options.

Pros:
  • Doesn't clump.
  • Provides lift and considerable volume to lashes.
  • Doesn't flake, fade, or smudge.
Cons:
  • Contains fragrance, which isn't best for eyes.
Jar Packaging: No
Tested on animals: No
Inspired by starlets and supermodels, born on the red carpet, this revolutionary new lash-enhancing elastic formula extends out the lashes like a piece of elastic and holds them there for the longest, most luscious lashes of your life with 13x more volume in just three coats! It doesnt clump, doesnt crack and doesnt drop! Whenever I do red carpet work I will choose to dial up either the eyes or lips, but one thing that is always FULL VOLUME are the lashes. A thick, lush Hollywood false lash effect will enhance the shape of your eye, bring out the eye colour and frame the entire face. This is really important as the longer the lashes, the more flattering the look - whether you are creating a wing, doll, or false-lash look, it is ALL about the lashes!
Water, Synthetic Beeswax, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Acacia Senegal Gum, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Paraffin, Triethanolamine, Polybutene, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil, Ethylene Brassylate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Cellulose, PVP, Potassium Sorbate, Glycogen, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Sodium Stearate, Methylparaben, Black 2.

Charlotte Tilbury At-A-Glance

Charlotte Tilburys journey into creating her own makeup line began back in her teen years when she discovered the transformative power of makeup. Fast-forward several years and celebrity clients later, Tilbury made a name for herself as a makeup artist who epitomized the glamorous beauty of the supermodel era in the 90s. Along the way, she became a consultant for beauty brands, and eventually decided to create her own line of makeup and select skincare products in 2013.

One of the strong suits of Charlotte Tilburys makeup is her take on color. The woman knows her way around flattering a complexion and making features pop, and you can see that in her shade range. That doesnt mean you wont find some misses along the way, but as a whole, the line offers an impressive selection of color.

Tilburys skincare, on the other hand, doesnt fare quite as well. Between the use of jar packaging and some highly fragranced formulas, skin is left compromised (see individual reviews for details).

In no small way Tilburys years of painting beautiful faces has helped shape what her makeup line is today. If you dont mind the $$$ factor, its worth taking a look at the standouts which earn our highest rating.

Strengths: Excellent color selection; natural-looking foundation and concealer.

Weaknesses: The iconic Magic Cream comes in a jar; some highly fragranced formulas.
