Brand Overview

Hyper Skin’s Hyper Clear is an excellent skin brightening treatment that checks off all the boxes when it comes to this kind of product.

First: this is packaged in an opaque plastic bottle with a pump dispenser, ensuring that its light- and air-sensitive ingredients are protected from exposure to both formula-degrading elements. Its lightweight serum texture sinks into skin instantly, leaving no residue, making it an option suitable for all skin types.

But when it comes to a product like this and the claims it makes, what matters most are ingredients. This contains 15% vitamin C in the form of 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid. Vitamin C has extensive research proving its ability to brighten skin, fade dark spots, and fight fine lines and wrinkles, and in this amount it can do all that. Supporting it are other brightening ingredients, among them kojic acid, bearberry, turmeric, and licorice. What does this mean for you? With continued use, you’ll likely see a marked improvement in the tone and texture of skin.

This contains additional antioxidant non-fragrant plant extracts such as aloe, green tea, gooseberry, and chinaberry for added environmental defense. Many of the included ingredients also have soothing properties – so the claim that this can help aid in future breakouts is solid, as anything you can do to soothe skin can help prevent acne (which is an inflammatory condition).

Overall, this is a great product, and strong flagship entry from Hyper Skin!

Launched in 2019, Hyper Skin is the creation of former lawyer Desiree Verdejo. Although she practiced law for seven years, Verdejo was perhaps best known as the owner of Vivrant Beauty, the first luxury beauty store to open in Harlem, New York. During her years running Vivrant Beauty, Verdejo became immersed in the world of skin care.

Verdejo says Hyper Skin was inspired by her own experience of having hormonal breakouts and hyperpigmentation following the birth of her daughter (the “Hyper” in Hyper Skin comes from the word “hyperpigmentation”). Searching through the solutions she carried at her shop, Verdejo found none that really worked for her issues, leading to the creation of her brand’s flagship product, Hyper Clear.

At the time of this writing, Hyper Clear is the only product Hyper Skin offers, but it makes for an impressive debut. Billed as a skin brightening treatment, it contains 15% vitamin C, plus bearberry, turmeric, and other antioxidants, all in a formula that’s fragrance free and packaged to keep its ingredients stable. With such a well-rounded debut product, we’re excited to see what’s next for Hyper Skin.
