Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Lotion
Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Lotion is part of Lauder's endless parade of moisturizers though the claims aren't all that astounding or much different from what they've stated for dozens upon dozens of their other moisturizers. You'd think we'd get tired of the same old song, but it seems that with moisturizers, the tune continues, with few people noticing that the lyrics remain the same .Lauder states that moisture "is one of skin's key defenses against signs of aging that appear too soon," but when skin begins to show signs of aging (e.g., wrinkles, fine lines, or discolorations), what it needs is not more moisture, but more of the substances that help skin to maintain its moisture balance. Years of sun exposure (even if you use sunscreen) destroy the key components in skin that it needs to maintain its moisture balance, firmness, tone, skin color, and a host of other aspects of skin whose loss we associate with aging. In short, sun-damaged, irritated skin isn't able to retain its moisture reserves in an effort to look better. Of course, that's where a well-formulated moisturizer comes into play; it gives skin the substances that sun and environmental stressors have depleted. And, of course, when wrinkles are the concern, sun protection is critical, too. Everything about the Hydrationist moisturizers is designed to make skin look younger, just as many moisturizers claim to do. And without question, using any moisturizer over dry, wrinkled skin is going to make it look better. Whether you choose to improve your skin with Hydrationist or not is up to you, but it's important to note that this is the only Hydrationist moisturizer worth considering. The reason: Because every other Hydrationist moisturizer is packaged in a jar and that doesn't keep the worthwhile ingredients stable. This version is in far better packaging and as such the numerous antioxidants it contains will remain stable and effective during use. That's great news, but ideally Lauder should've used this type of packaging for every Hydrationist moisturizer. The Maximum Moisture Lotion formula is best for normal to slightly dry or slightly oily skin. It has a beautifully silky texture and works great under makeup (assuming your foundation contains sunscreen). This is not rated a Best Product because a few of the plant extracts have the potential to be irritating. The beneficial ingredients outweigh this risk, but it still deserves mention.
Now, feel the instant rush of moisture and resist the look of aging. Because moisture is one of skin's key defenses against signs of aging that appear too soon, everything about this lotion works to keep your skin looking younger. You'll feel a dramatic moisture boost, instantly and all day. Over time, skin's moisture barrier is strengthened by 50% with exclusive Sustainable Moisture Complexso with continued use you'll see younger- and healthier-looking skin, year after year.
Estee Lauder At-A-Glance
The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.
The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.
When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
