Singer Rihanna's Fenty Beauty line is a bona fide chart-topping success, thanks to formulas that largely live up to (or exceed) expectations. Flyliner doesn't quite hit those lofty heights, but it comes darn close.
This liquid eyeliner comes in a user-friendly triangular tube that leads to an improved grip for precision lining (bonus: it also stops the tube from rolling off your countertop). It's really easy to get a crisply-defined, clean line because the tube's shape and the fact that the liner tip is pliable without being too flexible.
The black pigment this lays down is dark and super-saturated, with a high-gloss finish that almost looks shiny from afar (this is not for those who prefer matte finish eyeliner). It's extremely easy to build up more eyeliner without it looking cakey.
As far as wear goes, it holds up incredibly well throughout the day without a hint of fading; it's still impressive-looking after several hours on.
The only drawback is that there is some slight "chipping" of this eyeliner toward the end of its wear time, meaning it can come off in little flakes. Also, if you have excessively oily eyelids, you'd be best served wearing a good eyeshadow primer underneath. Going without makes this eyeliner prone to smudging, so if you fall into that category, that's something to keep in mind. Otherwise, Flyliner is another hit for Rihanna!
- Triangular tube and flexible liner tip make for crisp, precision application.
- Dark, super-saturated, glossy color.
- Easy to build up for a thicker line.
- Doesn't fade.
- Can chip off towards the end of its wear time.
- Those with oilier eyelids might experience smudging.
Pop mogul Rihannas made her mark in the worlds of music, movies, and fashion, and now she expands her empire to include makeup with Fenty Beauty, under the umbrella of parent brand Kendo. Taken from the last name she doesnt use on stage, Fenty Beautys philosophy is Beauty for All, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity in its products. Among its most heralded offerings is its foundation, which comes in 40 shades with undertones appropriate for very fair to very deep skin tones, and its highlighters, which include a blindingly bright 24-karat gold shade.
Beyond all the press though, does Fenty Beauty deliver? For the most part, the answer is yes, and both the foundation and the highlighters are solid products worthy of their build-up, along with a nearly-universal lip gloss that works for a wide range of people. Most products are fragrance free or contain minimal fragrance, and come in thoughtful packaging thats convenient and, in some cases, modular (some complementary products are magnetized so that theyre easy to keep together as a set).
