Brand Overview

Looking for a brow filler that you can master in 30 seconds or less? Maybelline's Eyestudio Brow Drama Pomade Crayon offers exactly that for anyone who wants to enhance their brow look in one quick and easy swipe! Our only hesitation in recommending this product is that the width of the "chubby stick" style component doesn't allow for the intricacy and precise control that those with sparse brows may need. Otherwise, it's a great option for the brow novice!

Eyestudio Brow Drama Pomade Crayon's pliable wax-cream texture glides on with ease, softly sculpting hairs into place without looking or feeling greasy. Although the formula sets to an almost powder-like finish, it remains slightly smudgable. On the plus side, that makes it easier to blend and correct mistakes, but it also means that if you're prone to touching your eyebrows (many of us do this without knowing it) it could wear off more quickly. Left undisturbed, the results last the entire workday and then some.

Shade-wise, there are flattering, natural-looking options of "Blonde," "Soft Brown," "Deep Brown," and "Auburn." What makes them particularly easy to work with is that the color goes on semi-transparent so you can layer for more intensity without creating a harsh-looking brow. They're pigmented enough to show up, but not so much so that they're overpowering. More to love, the formula is fragrance free.

As much as we wanted to give this product our best rating, the aforementioned width of the component is the real drawback because it can be cumbersome. The fact that it's in twist-up form as opposed to the inconvenience of needing sharpening is a plus, but as the tip flattens down with each use you may find yourself doing some extra whittling to narrow the point.

That aside, there's still a lot to love about Eyestudio Brow Drama Pomade Crayon including how fast and easy it is to use and how natural it looks on. For the advance makeup artist or those with very sparse brows it isn't the most intricate option, but for someone who wants a quick brow fix, this product does its job well, delivering polished brows in no time flat. It also works well in conjunction with other brow products (powder, pencils, etc.) so if you like to combine methods, Eyestudio Brow Drama Pomade Crayon creates a nice base for that. Well done, Maybelline!

Maybelline New York At-A-Glance

Strengths: At least one excellent product (if not several) in almost every category; many excellent foundations; superior mascaras; inexpensive makeup brushes; some terrific concealers, powders, blush, and lip color options.

Weaknesses: Lips balms tend to be a letdown; a few of the Great Lash mascaras are surprisingly average compared to other Maybelline formulas.

Maybelline is one of the best-known and most recognized mass-market makeup lines in the worldit's available in 90 countries. Throughout its long history, which began in 1915 when T. L. Wilson founded the company and named it after his sister, Mabel, and Vaseline (which he combined with coal dust to concoct a mascara for her), the company has prided itself on bringing innovative products to the marketplace. L'Oreal purchased the company in early 1996, and that's when things really started coming together for the Maybelline brand.

Specializing in a large selection of lipsticks, nail polishes, and mascaras, there is a lot to love from this drugstore brand. Many of their foundations are exceptional, and their powders, several mascaras, pencils, matte-finish concealers, and Superstay Lipcolor collection impressed us by offering a high degree of quality for their inexpensive price point.

Maybelline's latest urban image is a positive step, as many of their latest launches have been innovative without resorting to "been-there, done-that" gimmicks. Smart shoppers will note the similarities of a few of Maybellines formulas to products from high-end brands that are also owned by parent company LOreal. That just goes to show conscientious shopping can really save you moneywithout sacrificing quality or performance.
