Etoile With Retinol Treatment Oil
Jordan Samuel's Etoile With Retinol Treatment Oil takes the positive aspects of the brand's Etoile Facial Oil and adds retinol for additional anti-aging benefits.
This product gets it right from the start: Instead of containing potentially-irritating fragrant plant oils like many of its competitors, it relies on non-fragrant fatty acid- and antioxidant-rich oils. The result is a formula that hydrates and soothes parched skin without the potential irritation that can come from fragrant essential oils.
That alone is welcome, but this also contains 0.2% retinol. That might sound like a small amount, but research has shown that it's enough to have anti-wrinkle benefits, especially when used daily as recommended. In fact, even an amount as small as 0.01% can have a visible impact!
Though this is an oil, it doesn't have an overly greasy feel to it, and absorbs into dry skin quickly. Overall, it's a great product, especially for those with normal to dry skin who haven't tried retinol before and might be looking to start with a lower-strength formula.
- Contains a good mix of antioxidant-rich plant oils.
- Soothes dry, flaky skin.
- Amount of retinol delivers anti-aging benefits.
- Fragrance free.

Jordan Samuel Skin has a bit of an interesting origin story, in that the companys namesake creator didnt get his start in this skincare business instead, he was a professional ballet dancer in Seattle for a number of years before becoming an aesthetician. After spending a few years at different spas, Samuel opened his own, and eventually, created his line of skincare products. You can see his past experience reflected in the names of his products, as many are inspired by ballet terms.
The offerings are by no means expansive, since there are only four products in the lineup, but they are in general good. The only misstep is a cleanser that includes potentially aggravating citrus extracts. The other products, however, are straightforward yet well-thought out, including an oil-based retinol product thats a great starting point for those who havent used retinol before.
To sum up, the brands philosophy is en pointe (sorry, we couldnt resist!), and it will be interesting to see how this fan-favorite develops in the future.
