Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum
Reading the literature for this product, which is supposed to correct and even skin tone, it sounds pretty amazing – the brand says this uses the "most comprehensive correcting technology." Ignore all that, as this isn't the miracle skin tone-correcting product it's purported to be, and as we'll explain, even has an ingredient that could be a problem for your skin!
Lauder describes this product as a serum, though it has more of a milky lotion texture, and it comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser that will keep its light- and air- sensitive ingredients stable. The lotion sinks in quickly, with a satiny finish that will make skin look and feel smoother.
As far as ingredients, it contains a good mix of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients to help restore and repair skin. This also contains a mix of several ingredients (including a form of vitamin C) that research has shown are promising options for lightening dark spots and improving an uneven skin tone due to sun damage.
The problem is they're included alongside a higher-than-usual amount of grapefruit peel extract. As with all citrus extracts, it can be a skin irritant.
This also includes fragrance, another potential source of irritation. We recommend you give this one a pass and consider one of the superior options on our list of Best Skin-Lightening Products.
Note: Although this product contains the exfoliating ingredient salicylic acid, the product's pH is too high for it to function in this manner, and the amount is too low to be of much help even if the pH were within range.

Estee Lauder At-A-Glance
The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.
The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.
When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
