Double Wear Stay-in-Place Brow Lift Duo
This slim, automatic, retractable brow pencil comes in a great range of shades for blonde to dark brown brows, and its opposite end has a twist-up, retractable cream highlighter pencil for creating a lifted look at the high point of the eyebrow's arch.
The effect of the highlighter pencil is subtle, but noticeable, and it's the same soft, golden peach color with a hint of shine for each shade of the brow pencil. Granted, you could achieve the same thing with strategically applied powder eyeshadow or highlighter, but having it built in is a convenience that somewhat offsets the slightly higher cost.
The brow pencil itself goes on easily, but don't press too hard or the tip will break. Once you get the hang of it, you'll see it's not a formulary flaw but an asset: Few brow pencils in recent memory go on this smoothly and also last. The pencil's powder-like finish stays in place for hours, although you may notice slight fading by the end of the day, and certainly will if you habitually rub your brows.
All of the shades are recommended, but there are no viable options for redheads or those with auburn brows, whether natural or dyed.
- Dual-sided product includes a brow pencil and cream highlighter, and neither side needs sharpening.
- Both ends of the pencil are retractable.
- Very easy to apply and its slim tip leads to natural-looking, hair-like strokes.
- Great range of shades for light to dark brown brows.
- None of note, but redheads are unlikely to find a suitable color.
Estee Lauder At-A-Glance
The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.
The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.
When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
