Brand Overview

This daytime moisturizer with sunscreen has what it takes to keep skin protected from sun damage, but the formula’s numerous antioxidants will degrade upon opening of the jar packaging. The texture of this moisturizer is suitable for its intended skin types, although those with very oily areas will find it too heavy.

  • Provides reliable UVA protection with avobenzone.
  • Lightweight cream texture spreads easily and works well under makeup.
  • Antioxidant-rich formula.
  • Expensive considering the problems jar packaging presents.
  • Jar packaging hinders the effectiveness of the antioxidants (see More Info below for details).
  • Some of the plant extracts offer nothing more than fragrance and potential skin irritation. It also contains synthetic fragrance components that can be equally sensitizing.

More info:

All plant extracts, vitamins, antioxidants, and other state-of-the-art ingredients break down in the presence of air, so once a jar is opened and lets the air in, these important ingredients begin to deteriorate. Jars also are unsanitary because you’re dipping your fingers into them with each use, adding bacteria, which further deteriorate the beneficial ingredients. What’s especially disappointing is that this moisturizer with sunscreen contains a truly impressive range of antioxidants that, in better packaging, would be very helpful for improving signs of aging.

Works to diminish the appearance of the first signs of aging-the dullness, discolorations and lines youre starting to see. Helps bring out the even-toned radiance of healthy, youthful skin.

Estee Lauder At-A-Glance

The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.

The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.

When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
