Celebration Foundation Illumination
Celebration Foundation Illumination is everything it claims to be—and then some.
It's sometimes difficult—particularly with dry or aging skin—to find a powder foundation that feels moisturizing, offers full coverage, and doesn't crease or crack as the day goes on. If that's what you're looking for, be prepared: when you open this small white compact, the heavens will open. Angels will sing.
If you've decided there's no such thing as a 30-second foundation application that looks (and stays) flawless, this formula could easily change your mind. And if you're looking for a lighter full-coverage formula that's more comfortable to wear in warm weather, this foundation could be the perfect choice.
It's about as hydrating as a powder foundation can be, and its silky, not-at-all-chalky texture is smoother and more natural looking than virtually any other we've tried. It hides fine lines, rather than settling into them, to give your skin a fresh, youthful look.
If you're worried that the "radiance" and "glow" Celebration Foundation Illumination promises will be shimmery or shiny, or might highlight fine lines or wrinkles, rest assured. We found this finish to be illuminating without a hint of sparkle, and lasted long enough to garner a compliment even after a visit to the gym.
The only two criticisms we have are the shade range and the packaging. While this foundation contains beneficial ingredients, the packaging—which allows access to air and light--won't keep them stable. In a foundation, however, that's relatively forgivable. As for color-matching, there are only five choices, from "fair" to "rich." So while there might not be a color that works for absolutely every skin tone, we highly recommend this foundation to those who find their match. It's one we'll be sure to add to our bag.
- Provides long-lasting, smooth coverage.
- Doesn't crack, crease, or settle into lines.
- Feels weightless on skin.
- Comes in only five shades, which won't cover the skin tone spectrum.
- Packaging won't keep the beneficial, air-sensitive ingredients stable.
Strengths: Excellent color products, standout foundation and concealer options, impressive highlighters.
Weaknesses: Can be on the pricey side; has a few makeup products with exaggerated anti-aging claims.
IT Cosmetics (the IT stands for Innovative Technology) is the creation of Jamie Kern Lima, a former Miss USA pageant contestant and TV news anchor. Lima founded IT Cosmetics in 2008, selling her products in boutique stores and on QVC, then expanding into Canada in 2009. Since then, the line has gotten a lot of exposure with featured reports and stories on network television, including prominent mentions on the ABC reality show Dancing With the Stars.
The labels on most IT Cosmetics products reveal a variety of age-defying claims centered around ingredients like antioxidants, peptides, vitamins, and collagen. Those are indeed great additions to any cosmetic product, but unfortunately, the combination of compact or jar packaging among the formulas that include those helpful ingredients isnt a good thing.
Air exposure compromises ingredients like antioxidants and peptides, rendering them useless. While that doesnt affect the quality of the makeup, it is worth noting if you were hoping for an anti-aging edge from IT Cosmetics antioxidant-boosted blush or powders.
Of course, IT Cosmetics does have products that are absolutely worth checking out. The line boasts an excellent range of color products, highlighters, foundations and many more worth consideration. As with any line that has a mix of standouts and caveats, shopping using our reviews to guide you is a great way to ensure youll at least get your moneys worth, and your skin will be the better for it.
