CBD Nourishing Body Cream
Cannuka’s CBD Nourishing Body Cream is a good body moisturizer featuring cannabidiol (CBD) – though a couple of factors cause it to fall short of greatness.
First, we like this product’s packaging – it comes in an opaque bottle with a pump dispenser. As the brand claims, this has a lightweight, whipped texture that smooths across skin with ease and absorbs quickly. We should note that although it does absorb quickly and imparts rich hydration, it doesn’t absorb completely – you’ll see a slightly greasy finish. This isn’t an issue for most parts of the body, but might be if you plan on using this on your hands (it will definitely make them feel slippery).
That finish is a tradeoff for many of the moisturizing and protective ingredients this contains, including beeswax, glycerin, grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, and hemp seed oil. All of these serve to restore and replenish dry, parched skin, with the non-fragrant plant oils having antioxidant benefit as well. Like all Cannuka products, this also contains manuka honey.
As the brand and product names imply, this also has cannabidiol, the non-intoxicating part of marijuana and hemp plants that research increasingly shows has anti-inflammatory properties. One note: though this is listed in the ingredient list as “CBD isolate” (which is not the standard way to refer to this is ingredient lists), it is cannabidiol. The term “CBD isolate” refers to pure cannabidiol, minus other cannabinoids and plant compounds that many believe produce an additive effect.
What keeps this from getting our most enthusiastic recommendation is the inclusion of grapefruit extract. While this imparts a light citrus scent many will find pleasant, grapefruit extract and its fragrant components can irritate skin. As such, this isn’t the best choice for skin that’s compromised (especially not for sunburned skin, as the brand implies).
That aside, this is an overall good option if you want to moisturize parched patches of skin.
One more comment: At the time of this review, the brand’s ingredient list is not using approved ingredient names per the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) standards. Terms such as “distilled water” and “vitamin E” along with not listing the Latin names for the plant oils makes this ingredient list a bit misleading.

Infused with a subtle scent of citrus, this soothing cream provides a light, refreshing feel. It absorbs quickly, leaving skin soft and silky. Delightfully smooth, our Nourishing Body Cream provides immediate relief and hydrates skin for hours. Gentle enough to use every day for supple, well-nourished skin, this cream is essential for year-round beautiful, healthy-looking skin. It also soothes sunburns in the summer and deeply moisturizes dryness in the winter.
Cannuka’s backstory is that it was started by a husband and wife team who had a passion for legalizing industrial hemp and in that process, they discovered the benefits of topical CBD for skin. The wife (Kelly Bumgarner) also happens to be dermatologist.
According to Cannuka’s website, their products are, “simple, natural and only include essential beneficial ingredients.” At the heart of the brand you’ll find CBD plays a role in every formula, joined by manuka honey—both of which are an amalgamation that comprise the brand’s name. In terms of CBD, they’re sourcing legitimate cannabidiol, which delivers potent anti-inflammatory properties. Their manuka honey has a complementary effect by adding to the skin-calming and antioxidant properties.
Unfortunately, things go downhill from there as Cannuka’s formulas tend to get off track with fragrant essential oils and citrus-based ingredients that pose a risk of inciting skin-irritating inflammation. Furthermore, some products come in jar packaging, ultimately compromising the stability of many of their beneficial light- and air-sensitive ingredients.
