Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer
Too Faced's Born This Way Foundation gave birth to an entire line of face cosmetics including their latest delivery, Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer. We're happy to report it's a winner for those seeking out a full-coverage concealer that truly stands the test of time.
This concealer comes in a glass bottle with a doe-foot wand applicator inside. When Too Faced says this is "super" coverage, they mean it—a little goes a very long way. Therefore, it's best to start with a small amount and build if you want more coverage.
We discovered that instead of swiping it under eyes are other areas of the face, it's best to dab it into skin with your finger or a blending sponge, as it results in a more natural look.
Speaking of coverage, this does an amazing job diminishing the appearance of dark circles, blemishes, and redness. While the fragrance-free formula is emollient, it dries down to a soft matte finish that works best for those with normal, slightly dry, or combination skin.
As advertised, different shades of this product also work well to highlight or contour areas of the face. Speaking of shades, there are more than 20 available for fair to medium-deep skin tones, and most are natural-looking for their intended skin tones.
While many concealers look good straight out of the bottle, what counts is how it performs over the long haul. Born This Way Super Coverage concealer does an impressive job, with no fading even after several hours of wear, and only the slightest amount of creasing towards the end of its wear time (it barely budges!). It's easy enough to buff out any creases, as you can smooth it out with just a couple of taps of your finger.
Overall, this is an impressive concealer for those who want something that will cover just about anything and hold up throughout the day!
- Does a good job covering dark circles, redness, and other imperfections.
- Dries down to a natural-looking soft matte finish.
- Doesn't fade and creases only minimally.
- Fragrance free.
- Can crease slightly towards the end of its wear time.
Conceal, contour, highlight, and retouch with this super perfecting, natural finish concealer/makeup hybrid. The ultimate multi-use formula for a modern and hydrated photo-ready complexion. Fully loaded pigments provide maximum coverage with an undetectable finish for a look so flawless theyll think you were BORN THIS WAY.
Too Faced At-A-Glance
Too Faced is the brainchild of Jerrod Blandino, who got his start in the cosmetics industry as a department store makeup artist in the '90s. According to brand lore, Blandino's clients sought him out for his lighthearted, playful approach to beauty, which led him to create his own line. Soon he teamed up with business partner Jeremy Johnson, and launched Too Faced. The brand caught on quickly, getting distribution in stores like Nordstorm and Sephora.
Too Faced's biggest hook is its emphasis on a feminine persona that seeks to make beauty seem fun. There are several food- and scent-themed palettes, and many products bear trendy or cheeky monikers. The brand offers some top-notch performers, including some great powder products and its top-selling Better Than Sex Mascara, though there are some mis-steps as well (see our individual reviews for more information).
Note: In November 2016, cosmetics giant Estee Lauder bought Too Faced for $1.45 billion. Despite the fact that Estee Lauder sells products in China, where animal testing is in some cases required by law, Too Faced's founders say they maintain their commitment to no animal testing (and there are no plans so far to sell Too Faced products in China).
