Beta Hydroxy Acid 2% Acne Wash
Beta Hydroxy Acid 2% Acne Wash lists 2% salicylic acid as an active ingredient, and in a well-formulated leave-on product, it can have anti-acne benefit as an exfoliant. Unfortunately it's far less effective for exfoliation, if at all, in a cleanser. That’s because it's rinsed off before it can begin to work. If you are hoping for this cleanser to provide exfoliating benefits, think again. This is otherwise a very simple fragrance-free cleanser for all skin types except very dry.
Contains gentle cleansing agents.
Salicylic acid is rinsed from skin before it has a chance to exfoliate.
A gentle and effective oil-free acne wash that deep cleans without over drying. Helps eliminate the breakout cycle while removing excess oil and bacteria. Penetrates pores to eliminate, clear up and help prevent the development of new whiteheads, blackheads and acne blemishes. Oil-free, alcohol-free and fragrance-free. For oily, problematic and acne skin types.
Peter Thomas Roth At-A-Glance
Peter Thomas Roth is a large but straightforward line with mostly uncomplicated formulations that, for the most part, are quite good and state-of-the-art. Unlike many product lines, most of the acne, AHA, BHA, sunscreen, and moisturizing products contain what they should to be effective and helpful for skin.
Even more impressive are the well-formulated cleansers, sunscreens, AHA products, and skin brighteners. The moisturizers have improved somewhat, and most are now packaged so that the light- and air-sensitive ingredients remain stable. In fact, Roth's packaging deserves special mention because it is exceptionally utilitarian.
After all that glowing praise, what you should be aware of are the instances of products containing potential irritants (noted in their respective reviews) as well as the products in jar packaging that contain ingredients which are sensitive to air and light.
