Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Lip Conditioner
NYX’s Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Lip Conditioner is a good option for adding hydration to parched lips, with just one minor issue that keeps it out of our ranking of best lip products.
This comes in a small plastic tube with a doe-foot wand applicator. Its remarkably lightweight texture glides across lips with ease, yet feels richly moisturizing even though it’s not balm-thick.
The reason for the emolliency is that this is mineral-oil based, and there’s also a host of plant oils in the formula, among them the advertised Cannabis sativa seed, rosehip, grape seed, jojoba seed, and avocado oils. This leaves lips softer and more conditioned (as claimed), and we love that all these oils are non-fragrant.
One caveat: if you’re planning on wearing this under a lip color, it’s best to dab lips first, as the slick texture of this can cause any lip color applied on top to slide right off.
We loved the way this made our lips feel, and it has a lot going for it – the only quibble (and it’s small) is that is contains fragrance, listed here as aroma/flavor. It’s not here in a large amount, but fragrance in any amount has the potential to cause irritation.
That aside, this is an impressive lip conditioner that boasts a lot of good-for-skin ingredients!
- Texture is lightweight, yet richly moisturizing.
- Includes numerous non-fragrant, skin-conditioning plant oils.
- Easy to apply with included applicator.
- Contains fragrance (aroma), which puts skin at risk for irritation.
If you’re into our bare necessities, then Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Lip Conditioner might just be your new go-to gloss. This lightweight lippie is infused with hemp-derived cannabis sativa seed oil, an ingredient which can help to hydrate and soothe. Our silky formula slips on smoothly and kisses lips with a clear shine that’s oh so glowy. Yep, it’s the perfect way to give your worn-out pout a break. (We’re definitely coming back for more TLC.)
This small Los Angelesbased makeup line was founded in 1999 by a woman named Toni Ko. The company's Web site is vague about Ko's background, merely stating that she developed an interest in cosmetics as a teenager and wanted to create her own line of cosmetics. Ko's goal was to produce high-quality products at affordable prices, and that's the draw of NYX (pronounced "nicks") Cosmetics. We are pleased to report that, for the most part, Ko succeeded in her childhood dream.
It is important to note that this line offers a full selection of makeup products, from foundations to lip gloss. However, the only place to access everything NYX Cosmetics has to offer is their Web site. The Ulta chain is the largest distributor of NYX Cosmetics products in the United States, and the line can also be found at Target and Nordstrom Rack, but they carry a smaller selection of NYX products. The good news is that most of the few NYX products Ulta stocks are impressive, especially the powder eyeshadows, which compete evenly with eyeshadows that cost a lot more.
