Brand Overview

Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is a superfine, sheer-coverage pressed powder that is largely true to its marketing claims. For those seeking a powder that can be applied (and reapplied) over the course of the day, this is an exceptional formula to consider and earns our highest rating due to its performance and unique finish.

As is the case for most pressed powders, this is ideal for oily, combination or normal skin types. Though it contains a small amount of emollients, they are present at a near insignificant amount and don't translate to a moisturized feel on skin. The formula is fragrance free, making it a good choice for those with sensitive skin, too.

Packaged in a heavy, mirrored-gold compact, Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder does not come with a sponge. Normally, applying powder with a sponge isn't ideal as it tends to deposit far too much product at once, but this has such an incredibly superfine texture that even a sponge can be used without fear of looking heavy on skin. Of course, a brush also works beautifully for effortless, even distribution.

Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is a pleasure to use as a touch up powder, blending seamlessly over skin with a soft-focus effect that blurs imperfections. It leaves skin looking bright and polished, while simultaneously tempering shine. Impressively, though this contains mica among its first few ingredients, it has no visible shimmer.

We found the claim to resist caking on skin to be accurate. We could reapply this as often as needed, even more than necessary (twice an hour!) over the course of the day without it losing its natural appearance. As this doesn't provide a classic matte finish, those with very oily skin will find this won't control shine for long. However, it can be reapplied, as mentioned, without looking cakey or powdery on skin.

The shades are surprisingly short for the brand, as Charlotte Tilbury offers an expansive array of options for concealer and foundation colors. The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, at the time of this review, is offered in three shades that cover fair to light, medium and medium-deep skin tones. Due to the sheer nature of the formula, the shades are workable, so those with very fair to medium deep skin tones will likely find a match among the three neutral color options.

The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder earned our highest rating for its extraordinarily finely milled texture, natural-looking finish and unique soft-focus effect on skin. Though this is a bit on the pricey side, it is an exceptional formula and, we think, absolutely splurge worthy and worth checking out next time you're near a Charlotte Tilbury counter.

  • Incredibly finely milled and leaves a natural-looking finish on skin.
  • Resists a heavy, cakey appearance despite frequent reapplication.
  • Provides a soft-focus blurring effect to imperfections.
  • Only offered in three shades, though these are workable for a wide shade range.

This is my powder revolution: a super luxe micro-fine powder with soft-focus nano particles that blur away lines and imperfections, for effortlessly flawless skin in a silk-cashmere touch-like youve never experienced before When in front of the lens and under the spotlight, a model's skin requires constant re-touching to prevent skin shining in the wrong areas. Traditional powders can look heavy, and dull the skin, so I created Airbrush Flawless Finish. This breathable, micro-fine powder technology gives you an immaculate complexion that acts like the most luxe, micro-fine cashmere veil on top of your skin for a bright, illuminating finish. No caking, dusting or sitting in lines.

Charlotte Tilbury At-A-Glance

Charlotte Tilbury's journey into creating her own makeup line began back in her teen years when she discovered the transformative power of makeup. Fast-forward several years and celebrity clients later, Tilbury made a name for herself as a makeup artist who epitomized the glamorous beauty of the supermodel era in the 90s. Along the way, she became a consultant for beauty brands, and eventually decided to create her own line of makeup and select skincare products in 2013.

One of the strong suits of Charlotte Tilburys makeup is her take on color. The woman knows her way around flattering a complexion and making features pop, and you can see that in her shade range. That doesn't mean you wont find some misses along the way, but as a whole, the line offers an impressive selection of color.

Tilbury's skincare, on the other hand, doesn't fare quite as well. Between the use of jar packaging and some highly fragranced formulas, skin is left compromised (see individual reviews for details).

In no small way Tilbury's years of painting beautiful faces has helped shape what her makeup line is today. If you don't mind the $$$ factor, it's worth taking a look at the standouts which earn our highest rating.

Strengths: Excellent color selection; natural-looking foundation and concealer.

Weaknesses: The iconic Magic Cream comes in a jar; some highly fragranced formulas.
