Advanced Time Zone Age Reversing Line/Wrinkle Eye Crème
This is the eye-area counterpart to Lauder’s Advanced Time Zone moisturizers. Other than being more emollient, there is nothing about it that makes it specially formulated for the eye area. The claims mention this boosts skin’s natural production of hyaluronic acid by 182%. That sounds mighty impressive until you realize that it’s really more of a “so what?” claim than something truly remarkable. Boosting skin’s production of hyaluronic acid can help plump wrinkles, but a boost of over 100% would mean an overproduction of this substance, which can result in lumpy, bumpy skin around the eyes. Of course, that’s not what happens from using this eye cream, but you get our point on how silly the claim really is—plus Lauder offers no research to support their boast, not to mention that hyaluronic acid is but one small part of younger-looking skin.
As usual for most Lauder eye creams and facial moisturizers, this is loaded with beneficial ingredients, including many antioxidants and cell-communicating ingredients. Unfortunately, it shares the all-too-common trait of jar packaging, which means those exciting, air-sensitive ingredients won’t remain potent for long after opening. In this case, that can be construed as a good thing. Why? Because Lauder included a potentially irritating amount of rosemary and tangerine extracts, and irritation isn’t what you want for skin anywhere, especially on the face.
In truth, this is a classic example of why eye creams are unnecessary. Yes, it’s fragrance-free and that’s preferred for the eye area, but it’s also preferred for skin anywhere on the body. And without sunscreen, this eye cream is a poor choice for daytime unless you plan to wear wraparound sunglasses to protect skin around your eyes from UV damage. Note that the formula contains mineral pigments of titanium dioxide and mica for a brightening effect. This can be attractive and can diminish the appearance of dark circles, but it’s a cosmetic, not anti-aging, benefit (and for minimizing dark circles a good concealer is strongly preferred).
This advanced eye creme is proven to help reverse the look of aging. Instantly, the delicate skin around your eyes appears smoother and more radiant. Lines, wrinkles, crow's feet and crepiness all look reduced-and their future appearance is discouraged.
Estee Lauder At-A-Glance
The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.
The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.
When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
