| Review: |
| This is Maybelline’s version of Lancome’s Oscillation Mascara. Although Maybelline’s version is at the top of the price scale for expensive drugstore mascaras, it’s still less than half the price of Lancome’s version (remember, L’Oreal is the parent company of both brands). Whether you choose to spend more on Lancome or a lot less on Maybelline, does the concept of a vibrating mascara have merit? Yes, but not nearly as much as the ads and claims for such mascaras would have you believe. Pulse Perfection offers very good length and thickness and all-day wear without flaking or smearing. The vibration makes a subtle difference, mostly in terms of a clump-free deposit of mascara at the base of the eyelashes. To enable the vibration feature you must keep the tiny button on the cap of the mascara wand depressed. Unfortunately, it requires a lot of pressure, which makes maneuvering the brush through your lashes more difficult than it should be. The results with the vibration off are good enough that I wasn’t willing to tolerate the awkwardness that came with having to keep the button depressed during application. This mascara is easy to remove with a water-soluble cleanser. |
